What You Need to Know

Planning for your marriage is even more important than preparing for your wedding. Our pastor requires counseling sessions as a part of that preparation. Generally, three to four sessions are needed.

You may contact the church office to check availability on our calendar. Once availability has been determined, our pastor will be in touch to schedule counseling sessions.  A completed wedding form and a $100 deposit will hold the date for you.

Persons who hold membership in First United Methodist Church should discuss financial arrangements with the Pastor.

When our building is used, the Church incurs costs.  These include clergy fees, organist fees, building use fees, utilities, and coordinator fees.


The following fees apply for weddings hosted at First UMC, Chatham:






Please note a Non-Refundable Deposit of $100 is due at the time you confirm your date.

If you wish, the Church has the capability to produce Wedding Bulletins for an extra fee of $50.

Fees are based on use of the facilities for up to three hours, including rehearsal time.  Additional costs may be incurred for longer periods of time or receptions.

The Comprehensive Fee (minus the deposit) should be made payable to First United Methodist Church and should arrive at the Church Office one week prior to the wedding.
