HELP NEEDED !

Chatham's Captain Bearse House is located off Crowell Road. It is an innovative concept in housing that offers  a shared living arrangement to approximately 19 senior citizens. Each resident has a studio apartment and there are many common areas, one of which is a large dining room where residents gatheer at night for meals. There is a cook on staff during the week, but on Sundays the six churches of Chatham alternately send people to prepare the evening meal. The House supplies the food, and all that is required is to prepare and serve the meal and clean up when done.

It is a great opportunity to give something to people who appreciate it very much. First United Methodist Church sends volunteers 9 Sundays during this year. The menu is planned by the weekday staff. You don't need to be a gourmet cook - the food is basic, such as roast chicken, baked ham, pork, etc. It costs you nothing but a couple hours of your time on a Sunday.

Women, men and couples are welcome. There is a training session on Sunday, February 19, at 3:45 PM, at the House, 3 Captain's Landing, Chatham (turn in at the stop light). It will be a hands-on demonstration of what needs to be done. (It is not necessary to attend this session. You can still volunteer and will be matched with an experienced person the first time you serve.)

Captain Bearse Congregate House residents are truly lovely, appreciative people. The good feelings you take home after spending a couple of hours with them is s rewarding.
